I'm declaring my bias here... but I have to go with Greg's hometown champs win.

That was a good run but I think his winning run at World Champs they year before was better, but that's personal preference I guess.

Sorry, WHAT!? Never did I say that he is a douchebag because he acknowledged he is Christian. You clearly missed the point.

I say he's a douchebag partly due to HOW he attributes his successes to the one above, as if he is favoured above all others. It might be a mid-western American bravado type thing, it may be a supreme superiority complex. Whatever it is, it's hugely condescending of other racers who also have faith in a higher power.

Some of my best mates are highly religious. My sister is as well. My gran is an Austrian Jew who fled just before the poop hit the fan in Austria, and my grandfather is an English Protestant. Don't begin to think that I pronounce a person as a douchebag simply for what they believe in. It's the way they portray that belief, and in this case it is in my opinion the highest level of douchebaggery.

I know an American pastor who for seven years lead a church in Paarl before returning to California last year. He recently used the following quote as a Facebook status update: "The problem with the American Christians is that they are Americans first and Christians second." That kind of sums Gwin up for me. Proud and brash and lacking in humility.

Fair enough. But, here's a tip. When you think someone hits the keys too quickly or without thinking about a subject, check yourself - breathe - before you reply to them.

As to Gwin, well, I was blown away when I first saw his riding in the Clay Porter film that premiered in PMB in '09 (can't think of the name right now), but underwhelmed by his interview bits. Over the years since, I interviewed him a couple of times, and found him to be one of the most unapproachable MTB pros out there.

That kid can ride, but he certainly isn't likeable

There's a YouTube clip where a Scandinavian dude interviews both Gwin and Mick Hannah but the interesting thing was that the interview centered around them being Christians. Aaron spoke the most and Mick the least and yet I was left with the impression that Aaron for all his speaking said very little of substance whereas Mick lives his words where it concerns faith.
