Who needs a GoPro?

I use mine pretty often. I dont want a massive camera dangling from my neck when we go on holiday so it’s lekker that it fits in my pocket. I have once used it on my bike and wont do that again. I use the chesty when fishing, lekker angle and I enjoy watching the vids. I reccon in my case it is money well spent.

I was just saying to the Mrs earlier, that I should have gotten a GoPro in 2016 instead of a DSLR. I would've had much more fun with a GoPro.

The GoPro Hero 2018 is within my reach, but I think I'll save a bit a go for the Hero 5 Black.

Keep an eye out for special. Black Friday is still some time off, but you should get some deals then. If you don’t mind second hand, keep an eye on Orms or ODP...

If you are good at editing, and using it to capture a cool sport like white river rafting, then a gopro is a lekker tool.

But if you are going to splice together some boring gravel road riding with nausea inducing handlebar mounted singletrack shots, then you shouldn't be surprised if your friends don't tell you how awesome your edits are.

The thing is, everyone looks at the cool shredits by the likes of IFHT and WildAir TV and thinks that they only need a gopro to produce similar quality. And that is a fallacy.

I think I would be content with the Hero 2018, but I believe there's no way to remove Fisheye on the 2018.

I bought a Hero Session 4 earlier in the year. I enjoy it. The GoPro app makes accessing your videos easy and the Quick app makes putting together a quick edit super easy. I just do 1 minute clips that I upload to instagram. A minute is more than enough to include some cool moments.

It's a fun toy to capture some memories. More for yourself than anyone else.

Now, I'm not stirring (I am totally stirring) BUT, if it's mostly for yourself, why do you upload it to Instagram?

Good for a Sunday cycle and a jol on a Skateboard along Durban promenade on the odd weekend, me thinks.

I don't think anyone needs a gopro or a drone.... Watching your mates video's of 'getting rad' is about as exciting as watching VHS tapes of your grandparents holidays.

I'm sure it was rad to do, but 99.99999% of the time it just looks lame and boring. That 0.0000001% is when he wipes out and hits a tree.

My four hour epilogue of my crotch in Picketberg comes to mind...

Ja man. For my photographic and video needs and abilities it is more than enough. I have the 5 but I would not mind the 6, only for the zoom function tho.

How dare you!!!!! :P

Look, I do it because I enjoy it. Spending some time after the ride going through some snaps and clips adds to the fun of the day. That does not mean that I don't want anyone else to see it but I'm fully aware of the fact that staring at someone else's handlebar is hardly ever rivetting footage nor does it really do what you've experienced on the bike justice. The other major benefit of these platforms is that it's on instagram permanently, like a backup of sorts. (Unless off course your account is hacked by a russian lesbian couple and deleted permanently by instagram... which has happened to me... )

Well, they were clearly in love, which I do appreciate, but most of my followers didn't. As soon as they got controll over my account they changed my password so that I couldn't get in which made me feel sorta left out. My account got reported and permanently deleted, along with all my stuff and the russians showcasing true love.
