Toughest Road Climb in Pta East and Old East?

If you want something out of the city, try Boschkop rd. From Lynnwood rd you turn left. It's nice and quite with a good surface. The last part of this road (before it makes a "T" with the Bapsfontein/ Cullinan rd) is a lekker long (ish) climb. It starts rather steep but flattens out a bit at the end. I haven't measured it, but will guess about 3 km in total. The steepest part is probably in the region of 10% and the last part 3 or 4%.

The total length of this road from Lynnwood to the Cullinan/ Bapsfontein rd is 17km.

This is the route I ride most, know it very well (and like it)

Very short though.......... -_-

I'll go past on my way back home after my weekend ride.

I'll make a list of each climb listed on this thread and try and ride as many of them as I can over a weekend.

Once I did that, I'm sure I'll know where I'll enjoy hill repeats the most.

With appropriate rating scale out of 5:

0 = "so what am I doing here again"

1 = " I can feel the wind in my hair"

2 = "Breath deep and keep the tempo"

3 = "Need to start shifting gears to keep the tempo"

4 = "Can't talk now, hyperventilating and legs are burning"

5 = "Walking will be quicker........need BEER!"

You PTA guys have some nice climbs. I did solomon mahlangu a few weeks before kremetart but otherwise don't really head out your way for training. Only steepish climb I got my side is linksfield switchbacks, But its not that long. A buddy of mine has organised to do his everesting attempt in October up this climb, Needs to do about 90 repeats.

Tom Jenkins is the cement road up to behind the Union Buildings

You can also try Lois Ave (Newlands?);

Rubenstein (Moreleta);

Rubenstein - Blouhaak, Rutgers - Rubenstein (also Moreleta);

Matroosberg (Waterkloof);

Rose (Waterkloof);

Herbert Baker - Rigel (Groenkloof - Waterkloof)

+1 On Rose, then just go and play in warerkloof ridge.

Oh and what is queen Wilhelmina called these days?  When I was a bit stronger and dumber I did that one.

And Sibelius Street heading to the Groenkloof Campus.  Was a huge pain being on time for class.  Parked at Hatfield and cycled to Groenkloof. but that was fun going to class, but the return down that hill made me get off the bike and walk down there.

Jip, getting a KOM there is a lot of work.  Can never seem to get a KOM in the area, unless I get a hill with no access and ride it up myself :)

Jip Queen Wilhelmina is a b*tch.

And then back further east to Meyerspark. Very short, but if you are in that area. Skool Street is steep.
