Yesterday morning after arriving at work I went on the CW Cycles website to check the price on a Dura-Ace chain. The price shown was R255.00 and I printed the document displaying both the date and the price plus picture of chainWink

When I got to the shop yesterday afternoon they checked on the website and I was told that it was an old price and that the new price is R320.00.

Is it possible that my PC stored an old cookie or whatever of a previous search or am I being taken for a rideConfused

unless they changed the price during or after your visit yesterday, old cookies are the fault. Bummer. Be happy that you have CWC so close, in Gauteng the prices are a little higher for most things.

For starters' date=' CW online and the brick and mortar shop is 2 different companies but the shop will sometimes match the website prices.

I understand that and that is why I took the print of the price on the website along when I went to purchase the product. I specifically asked for the online price and Chris (snr) referred me to another assistant to help me. This assistant then went to Chris (jnr) due to the fact that my print showed the price to be R255 and their price being R320.

I don't want to make a hell of an issue about the matter. I just want to know if there is something I can do to stop this from happening again. EK was nogal 'n bietjie in die oe ook, omdat ek met R290 in my sak daar ingestap het- die ding kos mos R255.Embarrassed

Cookies don't have anything to do with it, its your browser cache that is the likely culprit. Yes, cookies are stored in the browser cache but they generally contain session / tracking information and not a complete site's data.

It happens.

Interestingly, it happens so often there's even a legal term - that stems from English law - for the situation it creates: 'Snatching at the bargain'.

An ad - interestingly - is not considered as a true, real, genuine offer susceptible of being accepted. It is merely seen as an invitation to do business, but if your invitations are incorrect/misleading, do so at your own peril...

Yesterday, I even tried accesing the website from other pc's in our office and the same result- the old price of R255. I then accessed the site via dial-up network and the new stuff appear. It must therefore surely be a server thing because we all run on the same server. How do I correct this?

Deleted browser history, temp files, cookies, etc. same result.

As I said previously, I even accessed the site from one of my co-workers pc, same result.
