At EL you will always be able to swim with a wetsuit, ironman rules state that only above 24.5 degrees Celsius will it be a wetsuit prohibited race.  Below 15 degrees Celsius (i think) it becomes a wetsuit compulsory race (was almost this year).  In between it is optional

Also +1 on Terry at xterra wetsuits

Also Blusmooth wetsuits

^This, I have been surfing in EL for the last 25 years and I can tell you that you will always be able to use a suit!

Does anyone know if entries can be substituted between athletes?  See this is not allowed.  I am looking for an entry for EL 2016 but see the sold out yesterday.  Has anyone seen a waiting list?  I cannot seem to find one.  Thanks

budget?

its best to stay close to the start, road closure on race day is no joke

Have to giggle at the comments about the swim being the most daunting ......... That's the ONLY part of my race that I'm confident about ????

Shew I'm petrified of the cycle and will just survive my run ????

Goodluck with finding accommodation I booked a place person told me 1 km from the turn around point of the running route only to discver its on the other side of the lagoon. I cancelled and found a spot at Hoylake Inn in Bunkers Hill.

i'm a local so no need to find accommodation, nor parking 'cause i work on the beachfront.

i suppose most of the accommodation that is close to the start will be fully booked by now. I suggest people start looking at the suburbs (Beacon Bay, Nahoon, Gonubie etc.)

The places i listed above belongs to friends so that's how i know and can recommend it (except for the hotels, purely listed because of proximity)

I just realised my boss has a holiday home in Gonubie. think i will try my luck and ask him if i can use it in 2017.

Unfortunately next year is out, but i will be following all of you and spuring you on where i can. Good luck to everyone.

Stayed in blue lagoon hotel twice, no issues with staying there.  just leave early enough
