Andrew Steer Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I am actually using a coach, his name is Chris Bruwer. Pretty awesome and tuff program. Because this is my first comrades after a Hiatus of about 5-6 years, i don't have any big goals, just a 8h Comrades or under 8H30min. Just a comfy old 8hr Noted your runs on Strava... I'll be very very happy with anything in the 10's... or just another finish quite frankly Lexx 1
Lexx Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 How does the training program work? Do you see the coach often or do you give feedback over email? I only recently decided that I want to get a coach for my 2018 Comrades. What he does, because i am staying in the Far end of the world, Chris communicates with me once a week about how my training is going and how i am feeling etc. You have to fill in a form telling him whats your running goals, your fitness level, how many days you are training a week and what sort of training you are doing, what supplements your taking etc etc. And he then ask what your Big Race is, like for instance the Comrades, and what time you would like to run it in. He then works out a plan specifically for your needs, which he send to you at the end of every month.

Lexx what were your previous Comrades finishing times? Andrew Steer 1

Lexx what were your previous Comrades finishing times? My first Comrades i had Malaria 3 Weeks before the start, felt like dying halfway. But finished in 09:30, then 08:40, 07:40, 08:30 and my last one i entered and only decided a couple of days before that i will be running the comrades. Stupid mistake, i then finished in 09:21.( thinking i was very brave, but i actually couldn't walk for a week. was totally broken.) Edited January 12, 2017 by Lexx Andrew Steer 1

Jackes Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 What Comrades training programs are you guys all following... if at all? We are on the Old Mutual one. Andrew Steer 1
Jackes Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I don't have any big goals, just a 8h Comrades or under 8H30min. Ahh, ok. :whistling: :w00t:
Stretch Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 my only advice is to take it easy in Jan and Feb and then hit March and April hard. Last year I peaked in March and then April and May were a drag. Ferret has quite a good one that he posted at some point - i cant seem to find it now though
