I think it's safe to say that the frustrating period in my new Brooks Ghost 9's are now over.  There was a piece of sticking on the inside of my foot behind the big toe that chaffed me just whenever it chooses and then the next time not soo much.

So I eliminated and changed all the variables that I had on those days, with and without vaseline, thinest to thickest of thin socks.  Now the only thing that remains is whenever I run on the dreadmill it happens.  Out on the road, even with the thickest socks without any vaseline or nothing funny, 100%.    Weird, but oh so happy days....

put some duct tape over the stitching (on the inside of course)

I poke my toe through my upper..so in order to prolong that eventuality I place a strip of duct tape over the offending area which delays it from rubbing through. I replace the duct tape every couple of weeks

No matter what the question, duct tape is the answer... LOL

The not so good news, I feel my knee, well let's just say a tenderness in the ITB area coming back.   Now the miles have been stacked up the last weeks, but the issue is they are stacking up way worse up untill 12/11.   I am concerned about this and not sure how to handle this.

Ah no man, That sucks

You can say that again.   I'm just not sure whethere you will feel a bit of soreness and that it is all part of the journey, or whether this is serious warning signs.

I guess there is no such thing as self-Myofascial Release?

Or should I cautiously continue with my program, but do a heap of itb stretches, hip hike and other exercises each day with it (stretches and exercises that I have been worried about, I know I have been neglegting them for the last 2 weeks or so)

if it affects your stride then it is an injury..if it doesn't then persevere but do stretching and glute strengthening exercises...and remember that sometimes a small break helps - taking 5 days off is not going to affect your fitness whatsoever

I don't feel it whilst running, only afterwards.   Not even so much this morning after the morning run, I started feeling it around 12:00.

We have hills and speedwork tommorrow, I'm definately going to skip that.

Problem is we have our longest to date this weekend, 32 and then another 35 the weekend of the 22nd.    Should I rather skip the 32 of the weekend or take the rest of the week off and do the 32 slowly?

Thanks a lot!

I had mild ITB after comrades and up to a few weeks ago I had a tightness above my knee in my band occasionally after a heavy week..but it goes away after a bit...just keep doing the exercises

Quick Story of Woe, as I might not be frequenting this pages as often to keep myself sane..

Chiro Recommended during my semi off season to maybe add some cycling back into my routine just twice a week to give the Achilles some change of scenery..

Took bike out with 16 months of dust (last rode day 3 Sani2c 2015), got it serviced and ready to ride...

Went out Saturday lunch for a quick 90mins before the Rugga, was 1km from home...... Woke up laying in the road in agony with a lot of people shouting...

Helmet in 4 pieces, S-Works in Half..

Long story short, some Guy in a Toyota Raider Jumped a stop street, T-Boned me at about 60kph without him braking, or me even seeing him coming..

Ended in ICU, surgery Sunday morning, broken Distal Femur and plate and screws inserted. Seeing Surgeon again tomorrow now the swelling has gone down a bit to see if the ACL or MCL are still intact and in good condition..

Crutches, No walking/driving for 12 weeks .. Spose it could have been alot worse

Kaapse Out, LUT out.... wondering if London marathon, Oceans and Comrades 17 are just pipe dreams now...

Be Safe out on the roads...

So sorry to hear about your accident Ferret. This is terrible, hope you have a speedy recovery and you will be back on the road soon. 12 weeks means the end of January. That means you have 10 weeks to Two Oceans and 17 weeks to Comrades. Hopefully, you are one of those natural athletes that can run a 21km after weeks of no exercise -_-

I am off sick this week, haven't trained since Sunday and I feel like crying. We are truly special creatures. I am so addicted to training.

Irritated as hell at work, my colleagues bought me a "koekroller" :D

No ways dude - that sucks big time. As you say - it could have been worse - look on that positive. did the guy stop?

I fear you may do yourself damage if you push to comrades...maybe be wiser to take a slower rehab and come back fighting fit for 2018?
