Other than windy 09 Argus where at least occasionally i felt i had a bit of wind behind me, not so here. From the start i was fighting the wind head and side on. Heard about 6 riders were blown off their bikes, I saw a female rider been blown into the veld still mounted on her bike.

Race well organised, waffling down boerrie rolls, pancakes and swapping "war stories" with my mates in the chill zone after rounded off a tough ride.

Loved the race organisation and race pack. Rather unfortunate about the gusting wind. In hindsight it was probably irresponsible and reckless for me to continue and finish the 90km considering I've only been cycling since August this year.

At least it cannot get any more windy than this.

Big ups to those who partook and finished. It was quite a challenge.

2h55 , hard week of traing so legs were dead!!!

Did the race last year and thought "IT can NOT get any worse"  well it WAS worse than last year!!! But good training and arms are sore fighting the cross winds at times...was a bit hairy at some stages, I must admit!!!

I really felt bad for some of the 45km guys...they left only 15 minutes after our 90km group and going up that last HILL (+/- 3km's to go )we were still passing some of them on the way back (some standing next to the road and other trapping at 5km's/h)...was a LONG day on the saddle for some of them   hope to see you guys back again next year!!!

Must mention that I also thought yesterday that the race is growing in numbers...as the parking was quite full-ish when I got there an hour before the race started...well done to the organizers and everybody who finished the race...and some others who could not finish   hope you will be back next year...good on you!!!

 o yes and thanx for the AWESOME Yellow rain jacket :w00t:  it WILL be used...I promise you that much!!! And only R150 to enter online...bargain deluxe!!! See you again next year...

You misplaced the zero  - it should have read: gusts 150 km/h with 5% showers.

Please get right for next year

Not Even a joke ... HUGE APOLOGIES !!!

Big shout out to a friend I made in the race  - Sho. We work well together on the return lap to share the duty of riding in the side cross wind. Would have been a long day without he's company!

Thanks for the help Sho!

It is clear from the posts the only negative from this event is the wind and considering the noted increase in attendees perhaps the organizers should consider moving the event to a time in the year where the wind is less prevalent?

After all safety is always a concern and yesterday was bordering on unsafe.

Anyone suggested this to them previously?

The race took place on the 12th October last year and we had hectic winds too so i guess its just luck of the draw... or in this case bad luck of the draw. I guess the weather will always be a variable that you cant account for on race day but it would be nice to have some nice weather for a change.! I guess there couldn't have been a more appropriate give away than the wind jammers. A BIG thank you to N3TC for that!!

Thank you to everybody that supported this race!! and big kudos to you all for riding in those conditions!!

Unfortunately they can't just move the date. As you know this time of the year is jam packed with races. In the past it used to be on the same day as shova so I think this is why the numbers jumped this year. The race calendar is put together long in advance and if your a "recognised" race you do what CSA says.

Iv done this race a few times and yes last year it was also windy, year before it was flipping cold buy 4 years ago it was perfect weather.
