Have to say I'm pleased for Louis. An opportunity to ride on a World Tour team can only hone his obvious talent & hard work.

Naturally I'm saddened that MTN/Quhbeka fairy-tale seemingly isn't a viable ongoing option for him...YET.

All the best Louis!

As long as he hasn't gone to Astana or Katusha, I am happy for him.

I can't speak about the past but I think he is the first real GC contender we have had in recent years and with proper nurturing over the next few years, the right team and proper support he will get very close the top step.

ps.

From cyclingnews.com :"Copeland appears to have pulled off one of the transfer coups of the season, taking the talented rider before MTN could ensure the rider inked the contract that they had apparently verbally agreed with him.".

If it is true that they had an agreement, I hope (not withstanding wishing LM well) , that Douglas sues the shirt off his back.

they verbal 'contract' might have been a whole lot of promises from MTN's part that have not appeared to materialize.

Yes Louis, we have a new sponsor, yes Louis we will give you a raise etc etc.

Please let this (Cavendish) be a sick joke?

From Velo News:

The rumors have been flying for weeks: Mark Cavendish is heading to MTN-Qhubeka.

Could it be true? MTN-Qhubeka general manager Brian Smith confirmed there has been contact between the Africa-registered team and the Etixx-Quick-Step sprinter, but said a deal would hinge on Cavendish bringing his own sponsor to the team.

“The rumor is true. We have had conversations with Cavendish’s agent,” Smith said in a telephone interview Tuesday. “Cavendish would help the team, in PR and with his success, but at this moment, we cannot afford Mark Cavendish.”

Cav really should accept the fact that he is past his best and take a pay cut.  Etixx offered him exactly that, you can stay, but you have to take a pay cut.. don't think he wants to.

If only the hub had a groan button ^_^

Why would Cavendish go to MTN (or any other team) that cannot afford him? Does not make sense...something fishy I think.

Cavendish can FO to some Pom team....Ooops tried that already and it did not work out

So MTN-Qhubeka will only take Cavendish if he brings his own sponsor... It seems nobody really wants Cavendish anymore, unless he pays them :P

ha ha ha i nearly choked on my sushi

Do you want to tell me the difference in validity between a verbal contract and one reduced to writing ?
