Lost rattlesnake sound

Hey hubbers...

I went to ride this weekend with my Fulcrum wheels (road) and whilst i was riding i realised i "lossed" that rattlesnake sound.... when i turn my crank backwards it feels like the chain is off the ring...

What could this be? I went on riding on and i rode on sunday but there's absolutely no sound when i stop pedaling. I'm not expert but i think this has to do with my freewheel?

Any advice will be welcomed !! I want my rattle back...

Don't stress, its quite a simple design...remove freewheel from hub, check pawls and springs that keep them proud

The Noise comes from the pawls moving up and down, this happened to me, there was to much build up of crap with the grease, it was thicker than normal grease, so they wouldn't drop back down, sound GONE  Good clean, all sorted

So, if your rattlesnake has gone silent, it makes sense to clean out the gunk, to ensure no damage to the wheel?  Or can I keep my rattlesnake silent?

This proves that we cyclists are impossible to please.

One has a gunked up freehub that has gone silent, he wants it noisy....

Another has a gunked up freehub that has gone silent, and he wants to leave it that way to keep it silent...

Freehub noise can be controlled to a certain extent by the amount / type of grease used on the pawls. Generally more / thicker grease will result in a quieter freehub. Either way, clean out the crap that is in there first.
