Is it worth selling

Hi Everyone

I'm not sure if this topic is started in the correct section, or if it is allowed, so apologies if it's not!

I have a bike I have no more time to ride and am thinking about selling, but after pumping some cash into it and seeing what used bikes go for, I'm not sure if I should.

Its a 2009 Mongoose Meteore Comp 26" (Aluminium) with Rockshox Tora and Deore and SLX components. The main area I spent money on was to get ZTR Olympic Wheels with Y2Z hubs.

Is the bike worth selling and what can I reasonably expect to get for it, or should I shelf it in the hope that I someday get time to ride it again?

Thanks!

That's exactly the bike I've got, I just replaced the handlebar with an Easton straight bar, upgraded crank and cassette to Deore and replaced the wheels.

I would like to get the bike sold relatively quickly, but would also not give it away for way less than I could have gotten. Honest opinion from Bikehub users, should I post it for R6000 like the add in the link, or do I need to aim lower?

honestly, if you want to move it quick, you will need to come in lower I think. See the ad had you refer to had zero inquiries...just sitting there. 3500-4000 grand should get some interest I reckon

Thanks rouxtjie, I agree that I would much rather move it at a bit less than merely advertise for a lot. I will get some pics taken tonight and see what shakes out. Would the addition of a Parktool stand pump make any difference to the asking price?

This is why I've never sold my 26ers. I have a SCOTT FS and a TREK Series 8. No market and the components are worth more than what i'll get for the bike. So I'd say just keep it. You will ride again one day.

not really...

Can I be honest again....why not just keep it....for a GF/wife/kiddo. you will never get anywhere near you pay for it. Might as well keep it in the family.

Sell the pump separately

Do yourself a favour, Break it up and sell the components separately...

You'll probably make a bit more off the complete bike that way...

I sold a Merida after advertising the complete bike for R6K, I got it sold for just shy of R10K with patience... 26" goodies sells a bit slow... (Wheels, frame, fork that is)

GLWS....

Thanks everyone for the advice (and to admin for moving the topic to the correct section), I will see what I can get for it, just scared by the time I get around to riding again it will cost me halfway to a new bike to get everything in running order again.

Breaking up the bike may work as well, anyone have an idea around what the wheels are worth at the moment? I had considered selling just the wheels and shelfing the frame etc.
