_Daemon_ Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Superlight, the GT got a little plastic thing connecting the downtube to the rest of the back of the bike around the BB area, which breaks...all the time. Friend of mine ride with spare ones in his camebak. Seems the carbon edition don't have the problem.

Ireckon it's roughly equal. I have had some huge dumps on my carbon MTB andit's in perfect condition! I must admit on my old alloy frame I t-boned a car at 40kph that turned across infront of me and I'm not sure if a carbon frame would have survived that...

Remember there can easily be cracks on the inside of the frame or even in the resin that you cannot spot so easily.
