Eish, was a lekka race my only complaint is my chip not register when I crossed the mat at the finish. Do you guys know if they have a backup system in place, I know Great time records the finish just in case the miss someone and I'm pretty sure Racetec does the same? I also start in B, think I finished 2nd but could not see on my right if someone else was in front of me.

if you used a Garmin Edge with GPS, you can send the garmin file to Racetec. I did it last week for the one tonner, as my chip broke off in the race.

are you saying that most of the A bunch entered on Saturday morning at R350 instead of early at R200.early entries closed on Tuesday.

The problem lies in the amount of riders who have an A seeding. If 150 riders have it, then organisers should expect that number of entrants as an example.

Having 120 riders in A group is wrong, of those 120, 40 at best should be there.

Yes.

The intensity and work rate in A is the highest.

Thus, fatigue management and bike control requires the highest level of skill and experience on the PPA ladder.

Also, with no road closure (limited space to manoeuvre) the risk for crashes are high.

Be safe out there ????

the organisers are happy to charge R200 an entry meaning the A bunch generated at least R20 000 in entry fees. surely the organisers must of realised that the A bunch was going to be bigger than normal. do they really expect the A bunch funride to be a processsion . its a race in all aspects. pay for a dedicated ambulance dammit - the charity will still be more than happy with the donation albeit a grand or 2 less.

Good point, Andy. While overall it was a well organized race, the ambulance response time was an issue. I lay on the side of the ride with a fractured spine for close on an hour before the ambulance arrived. I understand and accept that there were a handful of other accidents along the route, but it could have been worse if my injuries were slightly more severe. Ugh, and I was so looking forward to the sprint finish!!

And a quick shout out to Errard Sullivan (team manager for the Peugeot pro outfit). He stuck with me until the medical staff arrived.

There are only 77 finishers in A. Where are you guys getting figures of 150 starters?

What some people do is...geesh this bunch is about 150 big, that is how the 150 roomer starts.

Some people judge bunch sizes diff...pity because it causes havoc :-)

Sorry to hear about the crashes, I hope everyone heals up quickly!

I had a great race in the F-G bunch, finished with a huge PB of 2:37. Big thanks to everyone involved and for those who did the majority of the work upfront, there was one City Cycles club member who was always there.

We were punished at about 60km mark  when a C group rider got to the front and tortured us all for about 10 minutes and pushed us deep into the red, he had our bus swearing and in one long single file line, I held on but I was glad when he left.

About how long did it take for them to fix your result?  I missed the start and my chip didn't beep going over the mat, but registered at the end.

Some of them are in Durbanville medi-clinic and the rest are on the phone to CycleSure.

It can take a few days, but I've send it in the Monday, and it was registered Monday evening. You have to fill in the form on the ractec website and attach your garmin file. Go to this URL http://racetec.co.za/profile/query-my-result/
