The 2011 Tour de France champion, Cadel Evan, believes Chris Froome can successfully defend his title.

Speaking to Fox Sports in Australia Evans talked about the British rider’s chances of taking his third Tour win in four years.

“For him I think it’s possible,” he said. “He’ll be the only rider in this era who’ll be able to go back-to-back, barring illness and injury.”

Injury, of course, is the reason ChrisFroome did not defend his title in 2014 when he crashed out on stage five. Alberto Contador also crashed out that year leaving Vincenzo Nibali a clear run at the title.

"Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) has announced that it is to withdraw all of its races from the UCI WorldTour from 2017....In a press release, ASO said it had registered its events on the UCI hors catégorie calendar for 2017, arguing that recent WorldTour reforms constitute a ‘closed sport system’.... Hors catégorie events cannot feature more than 70 per cent of WorldTour teams, which means a maximum of 15 for a 22-team event such as the Tour de France. As the WorldTour comprises 18 teams, moving down to hors catégorie level would mean some missing out. "

What is ASO forms their own calendar? What would be the pro's and cons of this?

If they can do something in collaboration with team owners and implement some type of a profit share system regarding broadcasting rights then it could be a step in right direction?

Just asking the question

ASO are in a pretty strong position. We'll have to see how this progresses .

 . . . .

Maybe something like the British Football "Premier League"

Giro is rocking!

I worry that the Tour has actually got too "self-important" for its own good.

We will see . . . .  in 41 days! LOL
