Frosty Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 After cancelling our pre-ride 2 weeks ago due to the every wet conditions, we managed to complete the ride today. The road surface is in very good condition, with a few uneven bits in places - nothing that will be dangerous at high speeds. As always, we sweep the entire route on the Saturday before the event to ensure the corners are clean, any holes are filled, and marked, and we're happy it is safe enough to ride in the middle of the bunch without having to guess where the hazards are on the route. The only thing we can't do is widen the roads, and it becomes the group's responsibility to ensure they remain left of the white line, especially on the sections that have no shoulder. We also can't tell the motorists to stay off the roads, but with the help of the Road Rangers, we hope to slow traffic down on the sections that have narrower roads. Getting into Carnival City will be a challenge, as always (due to the single entrance), so please allow at least 10-15 minutes extra than you normally would. Get there at least 1 hour before your start time. The parking and entertainment area has been changed modified (hopefully read as: improved) from previous years - now being held in a bigger space very close to the old area allowing more people to relax and enjoy the post-race entertainment, food, drinks and kuier. Frosty Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 For the cyclists with kids, there is a Kiddies race taking place at the "taxi-rank" parking within the grounds of Carnival City. Entries are done online when you enter (or by logging in to your entry if you've already done so). If you want to get more information, that isn't available on the website/brochure (attached), then please send me a PM, and I'll give you the contact person's details. This doesn't fall under my responsibilities, so it's something I've not followed up on, or know much about. Sorry!
