Hi guys I am looking for a new mountain bike for my nephew to race, I was wondering if anyone had any good options He has out grown his felt 24inch and needs something with better components and racing geometry I was looking at the Titan Hades 24 9er pro as it has the 24" frame with a 26" wheel set it also has a air fork and hyd brakes seems to be very light they going for R6500 here in Durban the Momsen equivalent is R3000 more just don't see the extra value in it please give your opinions they will be very helpful thanx

I would look at the frog series of bikes, an 8 year old doesnt need a fork its just adding to weight, get a bike with a light rigid and let him fly!!

He races national MX so every jump he sees on the trail he has to try it out so something with a fork will work better

He can jump a ridged just fine, BMXs don't have suspension.  At his age 2kgs off the bike makes a huge difference, lighter the bike is, the more fun he will have

Unfortunately the forks that come on kids bikes are terrible that's why I suggested a rigid. The only way to get a quality fork on a kids bike is to run a 26" fork and that will mess with the front end.

Hi,

I got my grandson an Axis. It is well made but damm heavy. I also suggest something as light as possible and let him enjoy the ride.

Have a greay week

My Son is 9 and I managed to build this for him 650 B.  Picket up the frame for a good price and used my old group set from upgrades I have done.

Hi that was also a option but the 650b with extra small frame was too big he is very competitive and wants to start building up his racing

Don't you have a bmx track locally? that should be perfect for him.

Agreed. Focus on skills on the bike. Very different to moto where the loud pedal is a way to get around things.

as a bike recommendation though, what about a Dirt Jump bike? Solid, reasonably light and is very small framed.

EDIT: Can also keep it for longer to work on the skills...
