Just called a LBS and they said the upgrade to the fork causes a lot noise. Anyone experienced this??

Maybe shouts of joy is the noise you hearing

Only noise I heard on the fit4 is oil swishing through a damping circuit. Can't hear it when you riding.

What noise are they talking about or it it just the hot air to convince you there's nothing wrong with your ctd?

Have ordered the factory fit4 unit today, will let you guys know once its installed. The price difference between the performance and factory was just R300 so i went with the factory.

Could you please PM me the cost and where from? Really interested in doing this too.

Agree on your feedback. Dont find the 32 to be spindly at 140mm.

Nonsense, noise caused by what?

Only logical explication is that there was a problem with this particular fork before the upgrade.

Just listen carefully, if there is only oil in the system, you wont hear much.

If there is a swooshing squirting noise, that is air bubbles in the bladder.

Get it out! Just re-bleed.

AGH MAN, I love the fact that you're all so clever, saves me a lot of disappointment when LBS's much things up when I'm uneducated. ;)

Let us know which shop and how long it took to do. Might do mine soon as well then.

Here goes, thanks for the enquiries and PM's

Basic price breakdown for those wanting to know:

FIT4 Factory Damper R3199

Labour and Service R450

Dustwipers & Seals R569 (if needed)

If you have a remote lever on your handle bar and would like to keep using it, you will also need the Remote Assembly installed on the new damper, add R699.

Oh and I am based in Stellenbosch, work at Flandria Cycles.

Authorised Fox & RockShox Service Centre.

Turnaround time is 2 to 3 days.

Let me know in advance what parts to order and have it waiting for you ... and you could be back on your bike in 24hrs!

So I've read about some new low-friction seals, and a new Gold Oil that goes with the new seals, apparently the Gold Oil should only be used with the new seals. Can these also be sourced in SA?

It's all you can get now. Lube up though, they're not cheap.

The fun part is that you need a seal press to put them in. No more bodging with a pipe or a socket.

Don't think this has been asked yet.... is it possible to increase the travel when doing this? i.e. could one increase the shock length from 100mm to 120mm while doing this upgrade? What was the maximum travel available on the previous range of 100mm Fox 32s?

It's possible on some models, but not advisable. The 120mm versions have thicker walled stanchions and braced arches, so extending a 100mm to 120 will make it quite flexy and prone to failure with heavier riders.

If you want a 120mm fork, buy it as such.
