I've walked a bit at Riverhead. Its nice in summer and a mudbath in winter. It can help to have a local around since there's a lot of paths (https://www.trailforks.com/region/riverhead-forest/). Also out there is the WCRC compound (https://www.trailforks.com/region/west-coast-riders-club/), which is a steep up with several fun downhills. Its a little more resistant to bad weather since many of the tracks are open to the sun.

In my backyard (East Auckland) we've got the amazing Maraetai Forest trails (https://www.trailforks.com/region/maraetai-forest/). A mix of XC and more "enduro" focused trails, most of them with a good dose of tech.

I have ridden out at Riverhead a couple of times. Its very different from Woodhill as its mainly tracks that have been created by the guys riding their motorbikes in the forest. Lots of roots and ruts. Like Niterider said, its not suitable to riding in winter as its clay based and drainage is pretty bad. The second section (West coast riders club) is mainly a steep up hill with a number of down hill trails with jumps etc. Nice trails but the right bike for the job is probably a good idea.

@ Niterider, How is Maraetai forest in the wet?

Anyone here in NZ wanna buy my Wahoo Kickr?

Fitted with XT cassette. Includes Ant plus dongle.

Busy with a garage clearout of unused stuff.

Might be some riders in the Pohutukawa Coast Bike Club interested. I can post there if you have a price in mind

Nevermind. Found it.

" Selling it because I no longer cycle"

yep I am afraid so.

Other than a leisurely cruise around wood hill once a month I simply don't have time.

Trying to get two startups going working a really hardcore 9-5 and running my RSA business at night. Not to mention trying to raise two kids.

Things are a bit crazy right now. Struggling to keep up. [emoji20]

That sucks man. I honestly don't know how you manage the RSA thing. I gave up on SA work within 2 months of arriving here, the time gap was just too disruptive.

There will be light at the end of the tunnel though. And hopefully the tunnel isn't too long  :)
