I'd get an Anthem 27.5.

Its fits the budget

Its easy to repair with spare parts available cost effectively

27.5 wheels are not slower than 29 wheels. you still have to pedal.

For J2C a hardtail 29 would be adequate. If you want a full susser then Anthem 27.5

Eish, I wouldn't advise a hard tail. Those first few days through the Free state on the bumpy, tufty sections will be hardwork on a hardtail. Going to feel it properly by the time the more tech middle third starts.

Frame is R38500. Cheaper than it's competition...

Slap on an RS-1 and it's in the same ballpark as an S-Works Epic frameset ($5,700.00):

Or you can get an S-Works Stumpy 650B frame for $3,700.00:

That Pyga is damn expensive, no matter what way you look at it.

Pyga 110 with GX build. sells for just under 40, best all rounder and they have some great support at joberg2c :) that bike you can ride anywhere!

Yes. A 110 will cover all your bases.

And you can high-5 Pat every morning and every afternoon

I rode on a hardtail this year, EMD Niner, there was only around 10km of gras-polke (day two I think it was) I recall really suffering through... you don't really need a dual suspension in my view.

Agreed, IMO a Hardtail 29er has enough "give" in the rear wheel to be comfortable enough for an Epic or Joburg2C. Especiually when mated to a 27.2 Pave or similar "designed to flex seatpost.

And they don't carry the weight penalty of the duallies
