Hello guys,

So I saw a bike for sale here on The Bike Hub, and want to sell my bike in order to maybe buy it.

But, I have no idea what price I must sell it for.

And also, it is just a feeler. I want to see if anybody is interested before selling.

Thanks for your time guys.

:)

EDIT: Will post pics shortly

Most people would like to know the wheel size i.e. 26" or29". Also information regarding the age of the bike and the general condition. These will all influence the value. Have a look under the classified section here on the Hub and you will find some good examples of selling details and might even find a similar frame to the one you are selling which will give you an idea of its value.

Old entry level 26er, perhaps R1-2k depending on the condition.

Cool beans, I made sure that I listed that details...

Really sad, because I payed R5,699 back in the days. Bought the bike at City Cycles in December 2013, and the bike was a 2014 model. My asking price might be high, would most probably drop it lower... But only R1-2K, eish you don't get much back... Did not realize bicycles values drop so low.

EDIT: Only selling my bike, because I saw another Scott: 29er, RockShox, Deore/XT for R6K. I wanted to upgrade my bicycle, but it is going to be more expensive.

Me and my friend went for a ride at Bloemendal, he has a Scott Scale 940. That 29er gave me a hard time keeping up with my 26er...

Sell all the parts separately - with your list you should make a fortune.

You reckon selling all the parts would be a better option? Okay, I will give that a go if I don't get lucky with the sale, will let the ad sit for a two weeks or so.

You will always get more for parts than the whole, especially on the hub.

It will take longer, you will have to respond to endless pm's and run back and forth to the post office etc, but if you are trying to squeeze every last cent out of a bike, part it out.

I know this because I have done it. More than once.

Thanks for the reply Falco. How would you determine the price for each part? Like frame, wheelset, tyres, etc?

EDIT: I don't mind, I have patience. Haha.

That isn't really the bike to part out? Not a big market for Acera and other budget entry level parts, never mind that they are off a 3x9 26" bike.

Polish it up, take some nice pics, post ad and then wait it out. Possibly also an ad on Gumtree, lots of people want to start mtb and Gumtree people might be less picky about the specs and wheel size.

Cool beans, yeah I agree with you. I did that exactly. I am also willing to replace the broken left derailleur shifter, plus the seat, as well as a full service if I get a buyer.

I just wanted to update you guys, I sold my Scott for R4500, and I got a custom bike on OXL for a steal.

Frame: Cannondale F500.

Fork: RockShox Reba.

Groupset: Full XTR.

Brakes: Juicy 5.

Wheels: DT Swiss.

Tyres: Schwalbe Racing Ralph Evo Snakeskin (26er)

And the best part is that I paid R5000 for it.
