Haha.....Im doing exactly the same thing. I just pulled the trigger on a new Wide Lightning wheelset. The handle bars was replaced, changed to a 1x10 setup and a dropper was added. I love this bike on the trails around Cape Town.

Im 181cm and find the L just right for me. I think the XL would fit you better, but ask the concept store for a test drive. You must test drive first and make sure before you purchase this beauty.

I am looking at the alu Comp version.

Looks like a tank, but perhaps a 1x11 upgrade kit with XT brakes will make me feel better about it. I like the 29mm wide rims & 120mm F & R travel.

Perhaps a dropper seatpost for my birthday and it will be a real trail muncher.

Now to see what insurance will pay out...

has anyone given the camber 29 a proper downhill thrashing? If so what do you think about it?

I'm a few drinks away from buying one but I like fast technical riding. #enduro

I have a 2015 Camber. Have done several races (and stage races) in the past year. I am on a good day mid-pack, but trust me - very few will stay with you downhill or on rocks! The Camber also turn much better than most bikes out there!

With more than 20 race days the bike hasn't let me down once. The dropper post is a bit "bling" as I find it easier and quicker to simply move back on the bike on descents.

However, it does not climb or accelerate like say the Epic.

Edited to add that after a pro bike fit, I added a longer stem. Did improve overall ride, but did hurt handling a bit.

How is the sizing on the Camber? I'm 1.87m so exactly on the grey area between L and XL

I'm 178cm and I ride a Large Stumpjumper with 50mm stem. Get the XL and put a short stem on it, Large will be too small for you.

EDIT: I see now this is a very old thread...

Sizing is very individual - I'm 188cm and ride a large Camber.

Have also ridden a medium stumpy on  stage race and suffered no problems.

But I don't so please share!!!!!!

SA is marathon country. Therefore, Cambers are only available in the 29er guise, as it is seen as catering better to those looking for a trail bike that can double up as a marathon bike.

SA is 29er mal. Here in Europe 650B is king.
