The '59 trespass act is written in basic language but it's just a tool to provide a framework of action. As you say, it's the landowners choice. Could this be seen as yet another threat?

People are angry. Landowners gatvol.

Please not another thread! :)

I think we must just be aware of the implications of, and reasons why TBMTB club are taking these measures, and let them handle these situations to minimise and hopefully eliminate these scenario's in years to come.

I've often wondered why payment forthe various trails hasn't been centralised through the likes of the PPA. I'd love to be able to pay for all the areas in one go, that includes the Sans Park as an option when I renew my PPA.

Tom

I've heard about an app that is almost ready for launch that will do this. You can buy year passes for the trails that you regularly ride, and day passes for those out of the way trails that you want to try once. Also, there will be a built in discount system - the more areas you buy yearly membership for, the cheaper it gets.

I think it's called Engena or something, starting out in Stellenbosch and surrounds.

I think this is exactly what is needed. An easy way to buy riding passes. Currently its a bit of a pain to sometimes get a pass to ride a trail early in the morning

at the end of op's post i didn't care about any of his quarrels with the rogue riders as he became biased and moaned about the rogue rider kitted in Spez gear and riding an s-works. Guess ill be biased and not give a feather about you and your beloved trail either, you Specialized hater

At least the Spez rider was able to ride that section

Hehehee

I reckon he was going faster because he was rogue-ing

'Better get through here quick... I see some members behind me...'

TMBC prescribes to the AMArider Rogue Riding Policy https://www.amarider.co.za/amarider/siteContent.php?cid=194

Most of the rogue riders that have been identified have apologised and life goes on.  There are a few though that obviously had a bad attitude.  I think TMBC started placing the cameras in the beginning of the year and after a few rounds the rogue riding died down.  However I think some of these guys may be out of town or not aware that they could be caught.

Yawn

Sorry but that is the way I feel about this.Yes I belong to TMBC and yes I always ride with my board but talking photos and even posting them online is as effective as giving taxis a fine.

They got marshals who do a great job out there. If you sitting with over a million bucks in your bank account get more marshals, hire security but taking a photo is a waste IMO.

All money has been budgeted to building and up keeping the trails as well as land access fees that get paid to the owners.  A security company was previously used and that did not work out very well.  The marshalling and cameras have been far more effective in discouraging rogue riding as well as a lot cheaper.

Let it be noted that I am currently budgeting for a Spez Camber Carbon Comp 29er come June next year ( I am waiting to finish paying of my car first )...But I digress, my point is that if you can afford all the aforementioned kit and bike, and then skip on a R50.00 day pass, I don't care what you ride, you're a toss!

What you are saying then is that you are chasing after the lost revenue and the act of rogue riding, while an irritation, is not enough to actually use the system put in place. Hope this works for you guys, when I was at the meeting at Delvera the sentiment was we all had enough.

If you can manage it then all good but careful not to set a precedent by barking from behind a muzzle. Any of the bad apples on that list yet?

Apologies, but I'm not quite getting what you're implying?

If someone is a repeat offender then they would be referred to AMARider with proof that they had already transgressed previously and action was taken to reprimand them.

EDIT:  The committee will be sending out a news flash regarding rogue riding shortly, I'll copy and paste it then.  Not going to do it now since there may be some revisions that I might miss.
