Are they avail yet in SA and where or if not yet then when?

Pricing?

People have been talking about them on the hub but I can't remember anyone actually mentioning buying one yet?

Must say its a mighty fine looking post:

Yes they are available, well stock depending. Myself and 3 others bought them about 6 weeks ago from Giant in Durbanville.

Picked them up for R2400

I'll wait and see how they hold up before dropping cash on one of these. Too many stories of lack of reliability with any dropper

This one is a simple design, and if anything goes wrong with it, they replace the gas strut. Which costs less than a Reverb service...

From what I've read, the Giant droppers have been mostly faultless.

Had no issues with their 2015 one, but 6 weeks into the 2016 and there is an issue, see second link above..

So ja... lets hope the first and last one.

I reckon that issue is from something inside scraping, but credit to the giant guys telling you not to collect it when it was returned with a new set of internals, and the same scratch...

Ja absolutely.

I did loosen the top cap after the scratch appeared and noticed that there was an indentation in the dust wiper's steel 'cage', so that might be where the scratch came from.... In the end though it is really only cosmetic as it wont affect the operation of the dropper.

Yes I ve heard of a few with blown cartridges or stuck mechanism. Still they way more reliable than others but not as reliable as a rigid post...

I know I'm asking for a lot

R2400 for a dropper post with good looks and reliability?  And in a full range of travel as well.  Reckon if my Command POst ever poops out on me a 150mm Giant will for sure be top of the list.

Good to know.

That's not cool on a new post, why can't they just swop the post out?

From what I understand the 2016 post uses the same cartridge/internals as the old post, so should be as reliable/affordable to rebuild?

Spoke to them earlier, looks like its headed in that direction as they don't seem to have the spares available yet to repair.

My V2 version hasn't missed a beat and it's been on my ride for well 18 months. Anything that much different in the 2016 one to previous versions?

Comes in a 150mm drop and much more slimline... Cable and lever are identical.
