Agree, the amount of effort these guys doing is incredible. They identified sections where the road is not up to scratch, they contacted the municipality to come and fix up some areas. Most of us is willing to pay a bit more than normal for an event but then you have to give me something in return. They doing that! :-)

Not many races can boast about leaving a legacy behind them but El Shaddai certainly are. I ride the routes regularly and they are badly in need of repairs so we'll be benefitting from this for years to come.

Yeah pretty good. I started in C but ended up in E, did it in about 3h20m.

Not impressed with rider A431 simply chucking his energy bar wrapper on the road shortly after we turned onto the R44. Saw two chicks that had their RD hangers break in the last 30km - very unfortunate for them.

Good funride!

Started in P. At 42kms my front derailleur cable snapped... Had to spin on small chainring from there. Luckily I could stick in the bunch still.

Did a 3:21

But damn vissershok just got hot out of nowhere

Started in D and the pace was face straight out the gate, kept looking at my speedo and seeing 40-45km per hour. Managed to maintain but ultimately got dropped, just don't have the time to train like I used to. Think I got around 3:30.

Anyways yeah Vissershok, heat got hold of me there, wow normally not too bad on the hills but that one hooks me eveytime in the 99er race.

There was a guy in D on a 29er MTB and he was just cruising, super strong to ride like that on a MTB, and with Knobblies!

Well done guys!

That Vissershok broke many (except the pro riders!) today - hope the music on the top helped! :w00t:

There was music? I was to broken to notice... But nice touch Bloukrans. Event was well organised.

My day went more or less according to script. Once % turned left onto the Malmesbury road the pace picked up like crazy and I burnt a lot of matches trying to keep up (got a new max heart rate after today...). I was chuffed to be still with the bunch when we got to the steep bit on Vissershok but that was always as good as it was going to get..

And then to finish off as expected I started cramping for the 3rd year in a row in that little dip before D'Urbanvale.. Again granny had to do the talking up Odendaal!
