I saw two 29ers that smoked me. One was doing the short route. Their leader passed me at te bottom of Vissershok. I ride 1x8 so no front gears to worry about.

They ran out of water at the 2nd last water point along the Old Malmesbury road.  When I stopped there, they were waiting for a farmer to bring them more water.  There were a lot of cyclists sitting in the patches of shade along that stretch.

Then at the waterpoint on Vissershok, they were nearly out of water and only giving people about 1/3 bottle of water.

I don't understand how races can still run out of water especially when they know how many people have entered and that it was forecasted to be a hot day.

A mate of mine asked if there wasn't perhaps any cool water as by that time the water was quite warm from standing in the sun and the lady behind the table said: "well at least it is wet".

2:35 and 21st. Always a great event. Best organization of the year.

Are you kidding me?

Surely not the worst, but the best? Come on.

They supporters did have their enthusiasm levels turned up all the way to 11 it seems. Really was becoming rather annoying when I got to the last climb.

Ooohhh - You are really going to hate the Cape Town Cycle Tour...

Maybe write the organisers a note and ask them to get rid of all those enthusiastic supporters, I'm sure they will consider your request favorably.

Well, you get an indivdual seeding done for the event, the number pick up took seconds and they let me take friends without a sworn blood signed letter and no silly chip.

There were plenty of people showing you where to park, then where to register, then where to enter chutes, then when to enter starting line.

There were toilets well positioned in start chutes.

On the road, the cops were active and amazing, they made sure all the intersections were safe and that cars passed when it was safe.

You could see very recent large road repairs that were smooth on the van schoors road, some still bumpy but not life threatening.

The amount of supporters shouting at the water stations and on the final climb was great. At the finish there was water a plenty, massages, and shade.

They worried about the important stuff and not the admin silly issues. (Like a start card, a stupid front number board, health questionaires etc.

For a large fun ride I do not think you could ask for much more.

If you rode faster you would hear those annoying supporters for far less time :P

yeah, you could ask for enough water for all riders at all water-points.

Was there any problems with the timing of the event? I dont seem to have any results reflecting on PPA website or racetec. Hope its not my chip that was faulty :(

Ha! I did enjoy it, but towards the end they became very unbelievable. Seriously cheering on a sweaty 35 year old man with things like "looking so good" and "we really wish we could be you"..... erm no.

I do love the crowds on CTCT, they are more realistic.

No problems as I could tell, how did you have your chip mounted, needs to be vertical to be read.

There was some poor girl dressed in a full Panda costume jumping up and down and supporting, when I saw that I thought at least there is one person more uncomfortable than me...
