I do agree that the "get to gold" is a verysimple and easy process to follow, however getting the most out of Vitality is not complicated but time consuming and a lot of effort if you don't know the in's and outs.

Can someone possibly advise whether there is a similar way to get a Samsung watch through Vitality as with Apple?

Nope. It's an exclusive agreement with apple and vitality. Essentially because it's a funded device, not a discount on a range of devices.

:offtopic: if you want the gimmick watch at a fraction of the price look here http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watches-c_11330/

Items take a while to be shipped (weeks), but do arrive!!

I have bought other stuff off the website, so will confirm is legit and you can google for reviews on the site

Very good prices indeed!! However I'm not keen on gimmick products, had a bad experience with cheap knock-off products on one of my RC Heli's. Also I'm keen to use it as a further training incentive (I'm battling to get myself to train at this stage for some reason and was hoping with the daily goals it might help) together with the point scoring on Vitality.

you do not need a watch for daily goals, it is only good for the pedometer part and there are minimal points awarded for such like daily activities.

You need to use your phone or gamin such devices to log workouts (with HRM) to gain max points and review your goal point limits on the Discovery Vitality app to motivate to hit those weekly goals or above them.

You are sadly mistaken if you or anyone else thinks a fitness tracker watch like the iwatch will make that easy and without effort.

He's thinking of using it as a further motivational tool. IE I'm paying for this if I don't work out, let's work out.

The idea is not to take the effort out. But by using the watch as a motivational tool as Myles stated below, but by having certain goals set, not just personal but financial as well, I believe it should have some significant form of motivation. Also it will be connected to my phone as to log the points on Vitality.

Every time I deal with Discovery, I end up thinking one of three things.

1) It's too complicated.

2) I'm too stupid to understand it.

3) It's explained badly.

I think there's a little truth in each one.

On the vitality side, I got to gold by doing all the online tests and riding my bike two or three times a week (and then uploading these rides via Strava/Garmin connect).

Getting to gold was just a vanity thing for me.

But once I got to gold I suddenly realised that the benefits to Vitality are very real. 45% off on hotel bills for starters, and good discounts on car hire and flights too. Those add up to meaningful savings. And it helps keep my life insurance premiums low.

But fark me their programs are complicated. I've often thought that Vitality needs an A1 sized wall poster in the form of a flowchart to detail how everything works. I look forward to Myles's explanation with interest.

I won't comment on Discovery hospital plans, and those flippin' pyramid diagrams. That's algebra all over again...

From what I can see here is that many want someone else to do it for them, and are lazy to do it themselves.

Thats why I am not willing to take (his time, expertise and effort) without paying for it...

the captain has the freedom to do as he like... but offer and demand does make sense  - and everyone wins...
