Perhaps the time has come to ban a TEAM when one of its riders test positive? That will really cause some fireworks!

Then the likes of Tinkov will pay domestique opposition riders to dope to eliminate the competition with positive tests.

Ha ha, yup, I can see that happening.

Someone posted this on Burry day...interesting looking at the results....but notice 1 young Junior Male with lots of potential....that..or he was spiking from an early age

as for Burry...even as a junior he demolished the competition

Hahahahahaha!

Didn't they toy with that idea on the ProTour some years ago but failed to get it going?

I wonder sometimes if other team domestiques are ever secretly approached to under perform, much like what is happening in cricket from time to time.

There was MTB'ing on DSTV last night around 6pm, showed some series held across the country last year. The one race Rourke wins by 11 minutes, unheard of. I'm thinking... jaaaaaaa boet. "All natural".

Did the Karkloof race weekend some years back, and they had this short-course eliminator race on the Saturday on a course built using Bell (I think) equipment and stuff as obstacles. Croeser - I think he was 15 at the time - made the final against three MTN boys - Mannie, Kevin and I can't remember the third. He killed them...

In a small defence to Rourke he was/is a big talent and would of made it to the level he was at end of 2015 before being popped by this year same time should he of done is correctly. Pity but is what it is. He was on it all year, by July he was being careless and desperate which ended in tears by September/October and the way CSA dealt with it is another matter entirely.

Its a choice he made and has to live with and its easy for any of us here to slam him, call him names etc but no one really knows what its like at that level and the choices you have to make. You may think you do but you have no idea. At all.

I am not saying what he did was right cause he has destroyed a lot over the last few months from his friends, his coach, family, riders who are trying to get into the Olympics for SA, future sponsorship and the cycling community in general who supported him. For him not to give any type of media release shows his true colours which is a colour not many seem to like.

Cheers and dont let the door hit you on the way out Rourke.

nah. holds no water I am afraid, rules are rules...no grey area. If I shoot someone / steal money, commit fraud(which lets face it, it is what they are doing) there is a  consequence. If the pressure was too much / his talent not enough he should have called it a day and got an office job like the rest of us.

What is really a shame is all the hard work he has wasted...ALL his results are now cheap, actually make it any result he has obtained or will obtain(post ban).

Whats the point? Social media will just turn it into a rabid feeding frenzy again.

Which it should. This is part of the consequences of cheating and should be considered when looking at the epipen wondering "should I, shouldnt I"....

It does hold water, if you commit fraud there was a reason and your choice and no one but you can answer that as we cant with him and as I said it does not make it right it made it his choice which he now lives with.

If his knobhead actions only damaged his life, I would agree with you. But many more suffer because of his knobhead choices.
