Top SA mountain biker tests positive for EPO

I don't agree with the point of view that athletes caught for doping can not come back and compete.

Some of these guys got caught for some serious drugs (EPO, Testosterone) and some got caught for stuff that they accidentally took and some even took stuff that came off the banned list.

This is the reason there is a hearing. At the hearing the circumstances are taken into account and then a sentence is handed down. For more serious offences the ban is 4 years and for less serious offences 2 years.

The system is not perfect but it kind of works. Some guys did get away with murder and the most far fetched stories, but I am also sure some guys that did not dope on purpose got punished.

Fix the system and trust it.

Its a risk and rewards game, at the moment, the risk is not great enough to outweigh the reward, therefore doping still happens.

If 5 years bans were handed out (Which would mean you would miss a large chunk of your peak earning potential) you would have a lot more guys thinking twice about it.

Also, the way pro's treat returning dopers should also be more harsh.

Its your job, you need to know what you are putting in your body all the time, thats why you are being paid.

Take Lance for instance or Oscar for that matter.

We'll see when Usain Bolt gets caught....

You need to find him first :P

The months inbetween athletics meets when he trains somewhere in Jamaica and cannot  be reached for testing :D

Just flag the person and in reason, say person is serving a ban for doping.

You guys taking strava way too seriously. There's some options if you want a better KOM palmares, and the one you're looking at is definitely the hardest.

physiologicl doping (eg. drugs)

digital doping (eg. altering your gps files)

mechanical doping (eg. using an ebike)

Do you really think anyone is going to try and control this?

My comments were tongue-in-cheek but it is a bit of a scumbag move to not make your rides private while you are serving a doping ban.

Stravitis: A condition whereby your ego is determined by your KOM position. Usual symptoms include anxiety, sweaty palms and a small penis.

Small penis, means you are lighter, which is better for climbing,  you are on the ball!!

Also only having one ball would help as well :P

Like the syringes for stan's was ok'd...nah

As a pro athlete its as much your job to know what you put into your body as it is to race. contamination is improbable and only serves as a window for dopers to use.

Lifetime ban or lifetime ban by race organizers like the cape epic.

So if one cheats on his/her spouse ..... no pomping for the rest of their life?

Does one get paid for pomping one's partner...

Is there "pomper of the year" awards, stage pomping races, world champ pomper award where your livelyhood is in direct proportion to how well you pomp

More like a CA caught for committing fraud or a Lawyer getting jailed for some indiscretion.

They are removed from the SAICA or the Bar.

Then shouldn;t women climb better than men?

It is fraud if we are honest about it
