Northern Farms Red Route

I did Northern Farms Red for the first time this morning. Fun Ride. But is it not supposed to be 34km.. Both Strava and Runtastic clocked it at 39km. Not too much of a problem if you are used to the distances, but if you had your mind set on a 34km and 34km comes and goes and then 35, 36,37 you start to think you took a wrong turn somewhere.

 

Did I maybe do a black section somewhere or is it longer than on the website?

Sounds about right the 39km for the red route.

I got it into my head that the Ride for Sight was 106km once. Imagine my surprise!

They are continually adding extra parts and improving all the routes

On the plus side you scored as you got more distance for your money.

I've not done red for a while. I did black earlier this year, measured 56km. Did it again last weekend and measured 66km. They adding new stuff all the time which is great. But agree, boards should be updated as some people are testing their limits sometimes.

Its a great venue nonetheless.. And adding sections keep things interesting i guess.

Sorry to hijack the thread but is it safe to ride at Northern farms alone or would you recommend cycling in a group ?

I did it alone with no troubles.. There where "marshals" here and there and also encountered two of them on bicycles up and down the route (might have been the same one twice but was too tired to care). It was my first time there though and there are plenty of "lonely" spots when you out on your own.

I ride there alone all the time. Wife and I sometimes on our own route and speed. She's never felt unsafe either. Never been an issue. I always ride in the mornings.
