I agree. I think the answer is attitude and respect. Cyclist to motorist and vice versa.

That Dorset cyclist is my hero for the day.

Motorists should catch a f'ing wake up.

Can the tourists go home already.

Ppa safe cycling campaign is clearly not working because it doesn't reach tourists.

Then the general apathy on the cape roads leaves me bewildered that more drivers haven't had the crap beaten out of their worthless heads. Not using those heads so don't need em

I'm guessing you and none of your mates with bicycles own cars?

Did I not read that the driver of the motor vehicle is 60 years old? Its already daunting for old people to walk yet drive and some drive to make ends meet, have some compassion and sympathy for the older folk and give him the benefit of the doubt, if it was a lightie then I say yeah he probably deserved what he got...

The rider got away ok, so I say he lived to be more careful for another day.... Both driver and cyclist

I pulled out my driveway last week early in the morning...i honestly didnt see the cyclist...i had my bike in my taxi on my way to enjoy an early morning ride...i stopped to see if the gate was closing...the cyclist was at my window...giving me the WTF look...i apologized and we went our separate ways.

If you dont have a bright flashing light and bright colour clothing...how the hell are people suppose to see you?

I have invested in a bright green helmet...i use to ride with black kit and a black helmet...i am considering riding in a car guard outfit to try be be more visible on the road.

What's 60got to do with competent driving?

Most people on sa roads don't use their mirrors, indicators nor do they consider a cyclist to be another vehicle. The amount of bloody mindedness displayed by motorists isn't fixed by blaming the cyclist - a pastime so beloved on the hub. Till someone dies then it's a argh Shame....rip and all that ***.

Either cyclists start banding together to protest stricter enforcement of the law governing driving in sa or we'll just continue to be argh shame with a white bike erected at the site of tour last breath.

I'm pretty sure the motorist in Dorset did enough to draw the reaction he got. Does age exonerate you from driving like a knob?
