Anthem or Trance

Any suggestions for wheel and tyre upgrades while in the shop?

The stock Nobby Nics are HORRIBLE. Basic casings, very floppy. If you're staying Schwalbe, I'd recommend a Magic Mary Snakeskin Trailstar for the front and a Rock Razor Snakeskin Pacestar for the rear. VERY good combo, and my combo of choice.

Alternatives -

Onza Ibex (f) and Canis ®

Maxxis Ardent (f & r)

Maxxis Minion (f) & Ardent ®

WTB Vigilante (f) & Wolverine ®

WTB Trailboss (f & r)

I am running the ibex/canis combination (FR 2.25) and its really awsome, very happy with it.

I would go Trance anyday.

I'm a beginner so don't listen to me.

I yearn for the Trance 27.5 but I went with a 26'er Anthem and love it. Still nowhere near maxing out the potential of the Anthem. Great bike.

I went for the trance, I dont mind doing marathons, but I dont do them to get a solid time. Purely made my decision on which I'm going to have the most fun with and if my marathon time increases a bit (probably alot, but thats coz I'm unfit) I'm ok with that. Trance for the fun!

Had an Anthem 29er for 2 years and I loved it. My Trance X29 is hopefully being built this weekend. I haven't ridden it yet so might be proven wrong, but don't believe I could have the Trance as my only bike - need the XC bike for 80% of my riding.

So you had the bike for a full day now, and still no report back!

Please dude, the suspense is killing us. You owe us at least that.

Nah, probably still riding.

Ha. Sorry man @Dubbin, I forgot to check back on my own thread.

My first demo ride was around the 'hood, my second ride was at the Big Red Barn and my most recent ride was at the spruit.

I'm very happy with the bike. I can't deliver any insightful commentary because, like I said, it's been a while and I've never had a bike like this before; I simply can't compare it to anything else.

Right now I'm working on my fitness and trying to fit in more rides. The bike is living inside the house with me until the novelty wears off. :P

Oh, I forgot to mention that I haven't bottomed out my shocks yet even on the "descend" setting. And I don't flake out on the jumps either (not that I'm a @Peach or anything).

This was something I worried about but so far so good.
