Would the experts recommend the Amazon Fire TV? It does not mention kodi but I'm sure it can be installed.

im running the fire stick

I sideloaded kodi - very easy to do. If you want to install anything like BBC iplayer etc from the amazon store then your amazon account must have a UK address and no credit card linked - then it will install and work

the fire stick menu is a little bit sluggish but not irritatingly so. Kodi runs like a bomb though. I would buy another one for sure..and the remote works brilliantly as does the android app on your phone. You dont need the voice prompt remote..but if you feeling flush then get it.

also, I had to power mine from a power point as my TV usb did not push out enough vooma

edit...if you subscribe to amazon prime - then it is a really fantastic device..but you dont have to subscribe to use the device

Guys,

I use Kodi on A Cloudgate Android device and am happy as Larry.

I have a question though on behalf of someone else.

Is it in any way worth it to use it on a Smart TV? Does anybody here do that or have an opinion on it? The thinking is that it should give access to streams not available on the Smart TV itself.

Cheers

Ok so since my last post here my laptop was stolen and I am now Kodi-less.

Thinking of getting Android TV device to replace laptop.

What about this: http://www.takealot.com/raspberry-pi-3-starter-kit-white/PLID43034806

Or is this better: http://www.zeekonline.co.za/products/amazon-fire-tv-streaming-media-player-4k-ultra-hd-2015?sku=ZEEK10016

Any opinions?

the amazon fire tv is going to be significantly more powerful than the rasberry pi...but will involve sideloading in order to get some android apps on it..no biggie though

that is a monstrous ripoff though - R1200 if you buy from amazon uk...you dont know anyone coming back from the uk?

I am running one of these - http://shop.dbg.co.za/med-neo-u1.html - works like a bomb - and allows my kids to play their tablet games on the big screen too.

looks pretty cool - how much are they? (not gonna register just to see the pricing)

1799 - ex vat - they are one of the few that can adequately do 4k video - my other similar device struggles a bit with full HD sometimes.
