Oh and a much simpler question, once I install an add-on, how do I get it to show as a large icon on the "home screen" under video etc?

System/appearance/skin/settings (on main screen)/Add-on shortcuts/Add-on 1 etc

What system version of Kodi are you running?  I run openlectv without issue,

make sure yo type exactly as required to ensure the repositories are installed via system/file manager

Also OpenElec on my side. I've double checked the typing of the link as well. I installed fusion via the route described above, so then I get access to many other add-ons, but even they don't want to install (no typing required on my side).

Very frustrating!!

Not sure then... are the addons that have been installed enabled?  or they just don't want to download when you click install?

Just in case you missing something simple, installing and enabling addons http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on_manager

Hmm, no idea.. maybe you will have to do a reinstall of openelec and then try to install the addons... maybe it will work as something seems corrupted

Bought with Kodi and NTV pre installed, so format SD card on notebook, download Kodi and do a new install it is there. Quicker way? Also can I install NTV while SD in notebook or must all of that happen through Raspberry?

You on a windows or Mac?

if Windows

Format SD Card using SDCard Formatter https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/

Download disk image file for a Raspberry from Openelectv http://openelec.tv/get-openelec

Download Win32DiskImager http://www.raspberry-projects.com/pi/pi-operating-systems/win32diskimager

Use Win32Diskimager to write openelec image file to SD card... make sure you write to SD Card (Check drive letter !!!!!)

Once done, insert card in Raspberry and boot up ... kodi will eventually run

Install Kodi fusion installer https://www.tvaddons.ag/fusion-installer-kodi/

Enable NTV, if not there then install NTV http://www.htpcguides.com/install-ntv-kodi-xbmc-plugin-screenshot-guide/

Install any other addons as you like

Sadly no jailbreak and unlikely to be... there is a work around using PLEX, you will have to do some googling on how to do this
