Is this race realy this fast?

 

The Start Order/Estimated Finish order doc says the Elites will come home in 2hr12m and the slowest Long Group finishing 3hr21m

 

Not sure on the slowest long group time, last year the last rider finished in 5h25. 

It refers to the ETA of the first rider from the last group - not the slowest rider on the day.

It's certainly going to be a pain going out there twice in the space of a few days.

It's was the same for us in the East Rand when we had to drive all the way to Cradle Mall for the Berg en Dale twice. It's part of the racing

 

Just find out from ASG if numbers can be collected on the morning.

Did we get DQ at Fast One?

 

That's a good idea. I wonder if it would work in the vets category as they fairly regularly walk through our start group checking. I got an uit k@k on the start line of fast one because I had slightly folded my number. Lol and then later on the whole group got DQd for crossing the white line.

So I must start keeping my numbers. I usually just chuck them.

Obviously need to get there as early as possible... But any tips on where to park?

Will something be done about the parking this year , Last we sat in the queue outside Emperors for so long we missed all the long distance starts and had to do the short distance.

About the parking - this was addressed when I met with Wynand and the corrective action is to open the overflow parking earlier.

 

The overflow parking is supposed to be open on the left as you turn left off Griffiths Rd into Jones. Use it, if you can.

 

Listen to the parking marshals and follow their instructions. Most times people want to do their own thing and this is where sitting time increases.

 

Alternatively, park early at the East Rand mall and cycle up to the start. But get there before the 6:15 Elite start time.

Ditto! We started with the tandems of the short route last year. But we caught the back of the long route so I just went on and still managed a sub 3. But parking was ridiculous. Tempted to Uber van...

Parking at East Rand Mall or K59 centre could work too, little warm up ride to the starts and mostly downhill back to your car

Depending which direction your 7km is we might live close to each other. I'm also about 7km away. I'll be riding there and back.
