Eddy Mercx, De Rosa and if I'm not mistaken Wilier. What about the New Zealand brand Avante

Also why do they only import the crap Raleighs and Diamondbacks. Both make some top notch bikes, they should be available here too.

High end Ralleys here? Do you really think they would sell based on the brand's great history as the best value for money bikes for probably 10 years, a few years ago? Me thinks not...

I find this very interesting. So many out there, each guy having a small share of the market. Guess the international market is big enough to handle everyone...

It would be nice to see a South African top end branded bike hit the market! Sorry another to join Momsen

N-squared does De Rosa but pricing is another story

I would buy one and I bet Starvin Marvin would too. There are lots of Raleigh fans out there.

If they could have build a brand out of nothing in 2003 when the higher end Raleighs first hit our shore, they can do it again.

Swift, Pyga.

South Africa is actually one of the more diverse markets around with brands. People talk about "International" or "Europe" as if they're stand alone countries, they aren't, they're made of nations that have different markets.

In a lot of countries you see the number of brands seen here, they'll also have their local brands that'll be stronger locally there.

Intense...sniff sniff.....

Only one I really care about, especially now that I'm after a new carbon Tracer 275.

But I hear the brand may come in shortly.

Most brands are tied up with a local distributor preventing anyone else importing the brand into the country. It's always been like that and will remain so.

The issue is the local distributors don't actively promote the brand, carry stock or provide after sales service. Sorry to use Xxxxxx (the saddle and accessory manufacturer) but is a typical example.

As consumers we need to take the time and effort to complain to the brand owner/manufacturer regarding the poor service delivered by the local distributor. They in turn place pressure on the distributor. If they are not aware of the problems they can't fix the issue.
