Also doing the 2-day.

Yep, the fun only starts at 21Km.

I just hope that the damned weather improves before the race

Hope the wind stays away. Cold is no biggie for me.

Last time I rode that area the wind was hectic. Kakked off bigtime.

Well that was better than I expected... really enjoyed the route and the markings were brilliant!!
The last grass bit had me grumbling a little but that's what mtb'ing is all about?

Been a few months since I had  a good ride like that, weather was great, enjoyed the route, no complaints beside the relatively minor one of the hold up at the water crossing.  Beautiful area, veld was looking lovely.

Day one done and dusted!

it doesn't get easier, you just go faster... or so they say...

At least i knocked about 15mins off last years time, but i was still about 30mins off the winning time of 2h55 or something stupid!

I think i lost my sense of humour just before the last water point but pushed on.

That start is always fast and furious!

Back tomorrow for day 2!

Now that was one fine weekend of mtb! Saturday battled with a cracked rim but still really enjoyed the route, some great riding. Sunday was bloody fast and furious. Epic racing weekend

Bit broken today!! Where are the results??

What an amazing event.

Everything was smooth and well organised.

I lost a lot of time on day one due to a snapped chain.

Day two was brutally fast.

I’m pretty sore today

2 lekker days of riding. The area lends itself to some tough riding, but I have ridden the area plenty, and knew what to expect.

The Graspolle on the first day was not great at that time...but bot as bad as previously experienced - guess the lack of rain helped with this.

Yesterday was very nice. Chill ride out, with the mount grace Cog and Sprocket tracks being superb as always. We were about 4 of 5 guys bulleting down there, and as I exited the last bridge to get to the first water table, my chain popped off - almost went OTB, managed to somehow hold it, and luckily a thorn tree was there to catch me. Luckily ended with only a tiny scratch on my chin, but it was not pleasant - it never is.

Craft beer afterwards at R30 for 500ml was great.

Weather was perfect as well.
