Dumbing Down The Trails!?!?!?!

This is going to backfire... who wants to dumb down all the trails??? What was RM thinking?

Yeah I am inclined to agree that this is simultaneously a very honest and very shortsighted campaign.

Let me take it to the logical extreme:

e-bikes / pedal-assist bikes make really tough climbs easy.

BUT, suspension made descending easier too.  Dammit!!!!!

Just ride what you want.

Compared to the Jeffsy ad campaign, this one is a winner.....

Definitely, also the SRAM ads for level and eagle make me wanna submit tax returns or something. Too serious. And Jeffsy? Too much hype over the bike itself as if its the best thing since sliced cheese when the truth is that its nothing new really.

This campaign IMP is simply brilliant. There are subtle reminders of the brand here and there but for the most part it almost brushes the bike off like just another thing to ride.

It doesn't try to sell it as the latest and greatest, must have, tech infused, quiver killer.

Too much new tech is being boasted about by bike and component companies in latest offerings. Jargon and metric systems being thrown around as if that's all that matters. Only for the top rated comments on pinkbike reviews to express how pissed off they are about their year old purchase now being redundant.

Then there are the videos of pro's shredding on new bikes as if we're capable of doing the same if we bought it. Did you see Gwin and Zink in the YT ad? Geez that's some proper riding. But do I believe for a second that if I buy a Jeffsy I will be capable of the same thing?

The ad itself will probably generate more rider interest in Rocky Mountain as a brand even if they don't buy this bike. That in itself makes this ad more of a campaign success than just trying so hard to sell a new bike that it just seems out of touch or over rated.

Wade Simmons can shred with the best of them but the ad doesn't paint him as the pro he is. Just an average guy riding trails like the rest of us. RM uses the humour to focus on what really matters. FUN. Which at the end of the day is why we all ride isn't it?

You've made the Stravasshole fraternity plenty unhappy now. Good.
