Hi Guys.

Please give your advice and opinions on the above mentioned pedals.Which of the two would you buy and why?Durability and enough float for knees is key.

Have anyone used Time expresso 8 pedals? How do they stack up to the above mentioned two pedal choices?

Thanks for your help!

I prefer the broader base of Shimano's pedals, so I say go with the Ultegra set.

The pedals by Look are probably lighter and definitely better looking, but I just can't seem to enjoy them.

Went from keo blade pedals to 105 5800 pedals. Was really impressed at the clip tension on the shimano, they're not amazingly heavier and I love the walkability of the shimano cleats. So much more secure and slip free than the look cleats. Like look, you can choose your float freedom with the colour of the cleat you purchase. Yellow is the most, then blue, then red have zero float.

Also, they're much friendlier to service than the looks. Can strip, clean and grease with a 15 spanner.

I'm a convert to shimano and will likely not go back to look ever.

Just went through the same debate... I'll be trying the Look Keo 2 Max soon. Went Look as I prefer that the cleat doesn't stick out the inside of your shoe, and decided on the Max for adjustability. That and all the power meter pedals seem to be Look cleats rather than shaman (not that I'll be buying pedal PM but I figured they can't be bad if all of them are Look based)

Either way... check these guys for pricing

My order is on the way.... worked out a heck of a lot cheaper than buying locally (remember the prices are Aussie Dolla not USD)

I have owned both(Look Keo and now Shimano 5800)

The Shimano's are suppose to be a few gram heavier than the look, but I cannot feel any difference,

The bearings for now feel very similar..

The thing that I really enjoy about the Shimano is how nice the cleats walk

Most of the reviews on the net suggested the Shimano was also better quality than the look

Thank you very much for the input. No one really using the Time Expresso? So both the Shimano and look can give you through different cleats the same degree of float right.

Which of the 2 pedals is the most durable? Shimano?

Thanks again guys!

The biggest difference between Look pedals and shimano pedals and is also quite a shock to many when they find out is that while they both have similar degrees of float the Shimano Float is measured at the front of the cleat hence the "toe" of the cleat being bigger between, red, blue or yellow and the Look cleat has its float at the back of the cleat hence a smaller or bigger gap at the back of the cleat.

You will also find that due to this fact a shimano cleat will last longer because less of the cleat is being utilised when the float occurs.

Another important fact is that Look pedals you still pedal on top of the Axle (higher stack height) while Shimano you pedal more in line with the axle due to the nature of the cleats design (thinner in the middle with a drop in when you clip into the pedal)

I have used both Shimano and Look for many years. I prefer the feel of the look on the road but for the track I will only use shimano.

Both are easy to service, shimano you need a bit of patience to get the bearings tight again after a few years of use, Look are a bit more fragile to service and hence you need a torque wrench to tighten the axle back into the pedal body.

How does the difference in float,or pivot difference affect the actual float if I have a knee issue and prefer a nice amaount of float.I see most SA pros use Look.Sponsored pedals? And most are using the normal Keo Max not the blade.

The 6800 is just a better pedal when it comes to durability.

It has a sealed cartridge bearing.

Therefore maintenance on it is minimal.

I know a lot of people went the Look pedals and after awhile complained about a creaking noise.

I'm a big fan of Look and recently bought the Look Keo Max 2 - love the walkability of the cleat so much better than the delta. however I am not enjoying the weighting of this pedal, it just doesn't sit at a nice angle when not clipped in, I'm always having to flip it over with my foot to clip in, my previous pedals, were always in the right position, these are on the wrong side. Not sure if it's something that can be fixed or not.

I do like the argument for shimano's lower stack height... but I'll probably buy Look again, can't really say why...

Raptor please give us some more input regarding the Expresso pedals. The Expresso pedals gives 2 different kinds of float and is really recommended by some bikefitters abroad.Angular and lateral float.

Thanks guys for all the advice seeing pedals is a contanct point on the bike.
