Hills. Expect hills. I'm doing my fourth. My favorite event of the year. But there are hills. Always a nice vibe. Lots of fun.

Did I mention the hills? There are loads of them.

Thanks. What sort of gearing are you using? I have 34 x 28, I guess that that should be enough?

Any very difficult climbs or just too many to mention?

Should be more than enough gearing there. The climbs were mainly long if memory serves me right.

3rd one coming up for me.

Looking very much forward to it!!!

Gearing 39/25.

You'll be fine with the 28 at the back.

Very pretty part of the country.

Just know that there are a bit of bad potholes coming our way, so keep an eye open.  I am sure they will be pointed out as in the past.

I cannot wait for the weekend!!!

2nd one for me

Vets competition seems hot this year, gonna be very interesting.

Had to change partners due to the other one getting sick, but we will make the best of it

Looking forward

As for the tour its a really nice tour, compared to JHB races its hilly but if you compare it to the clover or TOGH it is much easier IMHO.

As for gears Jules is doing it on a single speed 52 x 21, if he is fine with that 34x28 will be more than enough

Going to be tough this year with days 1 & 2 swopped, which will mean easy day 1 down to Nelspruit followed by the trip to the caves on day 2 then Spitzkop/Long Tom on day 3.

Looking forward to it!!

Doing first Panorama this year and really looking forward to it. Can anyone give any advice/tips on the team time trial?

If the TT is the same as last year then it's around 36km to 40 km. An out and back. First half up the hill second half back down the hill. Problem is by day 4 not loads left n the legs. My advice would be to give it horns. Try not to vomit.

How's the race going? Anyone that's doing it logging on here at all? I got 4 team mates doing it. So far so good despite a puncture for 1 team 3kms into stage 1, Lost 15min.

day 2 was wet.

Today is the queen stage.

It was a flipping hard race. Again. Rained on day two. Really a tough technical day. Day one I had a max HR of 201 and saw 197 several times, and I am 55. Wonder what Vitality will make of that.

Day two managed to get a 2nd place in my age cat and 2nd overall. Day three the wheels came off and we slipped to 4th. Drizzle this morning on a very tough TT. Managed to stay in 4th.

I'm happy with all that I guess. Training for next year starts on Saturday.

I love the race. But it almost kills me every time I do it.

In case anyone misunderstands what I said above. I was 2nd overall in my age cat. I wasn't 2nd out of all competitors. Don't want anyone to think I'm one of the hot riders. I'm definately not.
