Ryder also introduced a new "Rim Tape On A Roll" product to the market. Cheaper than Gorilla, just as good, if not better.

edit=spelling correction.

Ive used normal insulation tape in the past which lasted 2 years on my ZTR Arch wheels.

2 Layers was all thats needed.

+1 on this. I used to use Nitto Insulation tape. 2 layers, tightly wound, and no issues

Some help please.

Front wheel needed new rim-tape.

Could not find Gorilla tape so I bought some expensive Stan's 21 mm rim tape at Sportman's. ( I was in a hurry)

Got home and saw that the inside rim width is 23 mm :cursing:

1.)Do I put one rotation of rim-tape down the middle of the rim, as it would cover the spoke holes with no problem? But will then have about 1 mm either side of the tape not reaching the rim wall.

Or.

2.) Do I put on two rotations of rim tape, one on either side hugging the rim-wall. This will then produce a double layer of rim-tape over the spoke holes?

I know neither is as optimal as correct width rim tape, but which one would you do?

Regards.

Just cover the middle with the tape and you'll be fine

*clean the rim well , with alcohol if you can.

*apply tape , pull it tight and make sure there are no creases or bubbles.

*Pump up the tire

Your tire side walls may be poures , but your rim is not (I promise)

    Ok . . . I'll believe you.

Jokes aside.

I was just worried that with a single strip down the middle there might be place for the Stan's to get  in between  the rim and the tape.

But thinking about it the bead of the tire is will cover the exposed 1 mm.

One strip down the middle it will be.

Thanks for you input.

just run a layer of electrical insulation tape over the middle of the rim/spokes .... pull it nice and tight and then run your rim tape.
