A big tub of High 5 lasts quite a long time, and is not too pricey. Not as cheap as Game. I however have a tub of Game on hand for when I run out of High 5.

Started using SiS...tastes lekker not sis. A 1 kilo tub here is around 200 bucks and at 40g for 500 mls works out to around 12.5 litres of hydration. so that's around 16 rand a litre. I don't use it too often so a tub lasts a fair while.

Used to use high 5, good product just my usual supplier ran out of stock so bought SiS and was happy with the taste.

I used to get a discount on Dischem vouchers using ebucks which took the sting out of High 5 tubs they seem to have stopped that benefit. I tend to train with what they supply at whatever races I'm training for. Otherwise I also use Game.

Athletes Guide http://eu.ironman.com/~/media/8cdae1018b9845388c1751ad766bc6a1/2018%2070%203%20wc%20athlete%20guide%20080218.pdf

Edit: Swim is seeded according to AG, different to normal IM70.3's which is self seeding on time

For us run of the mill athletes I like the self seeding for the swim. For competitive athletes I would think self seeding is probably not a good thing as you cannot, work out where yr competitors are in relation to yourself.

I'm really looking forward to the age group start, I have only done it at the Cape Town Discovery Tri and its great to actually know where you are placed (it might be a bit different with about 10 x the competitors though).

I like the principle of self seeding but I find people are too dishonest about their abilities for it to work. I come very close but haven't gone under 30 min for a half or 60 for the full and yet I always find myself swimming past literally hundreds of people who start in those groups.

I had a few butterflies reading the athletes guide last night !!

Am also interested to see how the AG swim seeding goes, as it seeded by AG and then within the group supposedly seeded by time as well.

Being an average mid pack swimmer (38-40mins for a half) going off in the 50-54 AG and having the 25-29 and then 18-24 behind could be interesting (page 21 of the guide)

But still think will be quite difficult to know where you are in your AG as you come out of the water.

It looks like they have tried to spread the bigger groups out amongst the smaller ones. Not so great if your in a medium sized group I guess. But with mine being one of the larger groups (40-44) I’m after the HC and PC and only get chased down by the 70+ guys so we get a pretty open course. I also see it’s self seeded within the age group so hopefully that works better with the smaller numbers.

I notice they say we don’t have to wear our numbers during the bike leg I could be wrong but I’ve always thought that was compulsory at IM events.
