So amazed with local distributors not wanting to sell to you if you want to do online retail only as you need to have a shop and all the overheads. Yet the amount of business going out of the country to CRC and other guys like them is astounding.

Holy crap that's fast

Order a 105 groupset on Thursday afternoon last week and it was delivered Monday morning. CR and DHL don't mess around.

Saved myself R1k, even on CWC's silly sale price that they had last week.

Has that wiggle crc takeover happened / still happening?

Saw this sign outside the CRC r and d office near my office last week. Presume it has happened then. 9cb113f9cf1485920f9e953ba12e4cf9.jpg

Is that true, some distributors won't supply to online only at all?

Which brands?

Can anyone give me more or less an estimate what the import tax / vat will be on a set of Hope pro 4 Evo hubs. Don't want to be shocked when I get the mail to pay DHL and the VAT. Thanx

Just VAT at 15.4% and a R 200 or R 300 clearance fee, IIRC.

VAT is definite. No duty on parts.

Thanks Myles.

Hi guys,

So if I purchase from CRC or an overseas store, on checkout, they should deduct the VAT (local VAT) from the price and I land up paying the VAT or 15.4% here via the courier?

When you select your location on the site, all the pricing reverts to ex Vat. When you pay, you pay CRC for the goods ex vat & shipping, then you pay the shipping company the duties and VAT once it gets here.

If you use DHL, you need to ask them for a customs invoice.

Just a bit of gossip - was in CRC warehouse last week and the boys were saying that most of them have been told that they will have no jobs after next July as Most of the online stuff is going to be shipped from Wiggle. Apparently only a few small teams will be all that is left of CRC - wheel building and R & D. That we'll be the two big online boys here turning into one then.

Is the Crc brand going to be phased out? Weren't there some significant tax advantages to crc operating out of Ireland?

They operate out of Northern Ireland, so still part of the UK. No idea about the brand - would make sense to run the website still I suppose as they have a huge following
