I'm impressed by the effort put in by Juma ito route preparation. What a fun ride. Melville Koppies was tough on the SS when the geared okes are in granny gear and going nowhere in a hurry. The rigid fork was tough on the downhill after the Red Bull tent.

Only complaint was lack of fresh drinking water on the route. Only spot I saw water was at the Red Bull tent

Nope. Fresh water was available at all 3 stations. Support was brilliant

To the knobs at the unintended bottle neck (I am talking to you Santa cruz and your hipster skinny jeans wearing mate) - EVERYONE wanted to ride and trying to skip the queue and then push in front of me going down the ramp... you're a fist class tjop.

You get them everywhere unfortunately.

Not when I was there. I asked, because I only drink water during races as it's always a constant. I was told they had been given coke, cookies and jelly babies

I saw Coke, Water at all stations as well as biscuits and jelly babies at the tunnel table and red bull and water before Albert's farm (Ice Cold water and Red Bull)

Had such a great time. Made some friends and decided to take things easy since I knew going in that I'd be slow. Ended up cramping anyway in the last 15 Kms. Forgot the first rule of the green slimy stuff; don't accelerate suddenly. Went down in a canal unexpectedly after trying to pick up some speed and caused a bit of a pile up. Broke my chain in the incident too. Just as I was resigning myself to a long walk though I bumped into a guy I'd been riding with and he happened to have a master link. Really enjoyed the tunnel with the fairy lights. And was thankful for my dropper in some off the low tunnels. I really hope this race continues. It's one of the highlights of the year in my opinion.

Well after all the negative vibes before the event - it was a really fun ride. Was in E batch so didn't experience delays anywhere. Went back to the water bridge after the event and I must say there were very few delays that I saw there. Well done to the organisers and hell yea I'll be back! Melville hill and the cemetery so close and right at the end sorted me out from the men, and then Julius coming flying past on his SS up the koppie really destroyed me. The merge of the 22 and 54 was fun near the end - maybe a bit intimidating for the lil ones but it was an adventure ride after all. That road bridge over Jan Smuts after that downhill was wicked fun and the tunnel was cool. Yup - they did tell you to have a light so for the whiners without a light sorree for you - next year read the instructions!!!!

Back to reality at Van Gaalens next weekend.

Glad that master link got you to the end! Like you said...when in trouble, look for the enduro guys! (We generally have 3 bike's worth of spares) Lost you somewhere close to the finish, just after the downhill after the last water point...but i had to keep pedaling, as soon as i tried to just freewheel my legs cramped and locked....

See you at Haka next weekend!

Has anyone been able to get complete results?

I checked on the day, but would like to spend some time looking at results in more detail.

There appear to be a lot of incorrect times at this stage. People who changed distance to the 22 or started in a different group have some very unrealistic times. There are 4 in the top 15 that look very suspicious. Hope it can get sorted as otherwise the event was fantastic and a real improvement over the first one. Congratulations to the organisers for putting on an outstanding event. Also much appreciation for the "legacy builds" that we get to enjoy for the rest of the year.

Yeah I think I was only like 5 mins behind you at the finish but I was shattered and my legs cramped up so I just went and sat in the shade for a bit and then went home. Hopefully I'll be at haka next weekend. I'll make sure to bring along a master link in future. I totally understand about the cramps if you don't pedal they get you sometimes. I'm determined to be fitter in time for the next juma. At least it will have helped a little towards hakahana.
