I just recently fitted the above 1 x 11 to my bike .

I have noticed that when riding in the 15 tooth (3rd from smallest) that the chain/cassette makes a kind of ticking noise . Only in that gear and not any of the others , anybody else ever have a problem like this ?

Sounds like your derailleur is not quite spot on in terms of position.

Or your chain line is out. Does it get worse in the 13 and 11 tooth sprockets ?

I assume not as he says 'Only in that gear and not any of the others'?

No its perfect in the 11 and 13 as well as the 17 . I am beginning to think that the index shifting in the shifter may be out . I cannot visibly see anything wrong with the cassette . I will be taking it in on Monday if all else fails Shimano must just replace whatever the guilty culprit may be

If you set the derailleur so that it stops the clicking in that gear how does it perform through the rest of the gears?

If you have shifting issues in the other gears then you may either have an indexing problem or a bent tooth on that sprocket that hooks the chain. Is it a rhythmic click or random?

Thanks Raptor . I set it in that gear so the noise goes away and then it shifts like s#$% in the others . I also cant see a bent tooth on the sprockets at all

So either the indexing in the shifter is out or the cassette dialing is out on that sprocket.

There might be dirt between the sprocket and spacer or spacer and previous sprocket. If you can remove the cassette slip the last three sprockets off and the spacer behind the 15 and check for debris. Everything should be spotless before install

The adjustments on that system are super delicate - a 1/16 turn on the adjuster makes a big difference.

I had the same issue with clicks in only one gear, and a cable adjustment sorted it out.

The 11sp is definitely more of a fiddle than 10sp.

I have found the exact opposite as I can turn a full revolution of the barrel adjuster and it almost makes no difference (in any gear)

With the road setup, I had the same issue, only the third Gear from the 11 Tooth side I heard the clicking as well... As per the instruction manual from Shimano, you need to slightly adjust the barrel adjuster for that sprocket

I played around a bit with the barrel adjuster and that sorted out my problem with the clicking, all gear shifts are now smooth...

Disconnect the cable and try again... then play around with the barrel adjuster and see if that works...

Good luck none the less... it can be quite annoying.

Thanks Zac . The shifting through all the gears is silky smooth , its just once in the 15 tooth that the clicking occurs under slight load . When the mech at the LBS puts the bike in the stand and checks , there is no noise . When you dab the rear brake slightly and turn the cranks then the clicking sound is there .

Did you replace the cable housing when putting the new cable in?

Is the cassette tight and fitted correctly?  No movement on any of the sprockets at all?

I have the same problem with the clicking sound. No amount of adjustment takes it away. Has done it from new. Chain and sprocket gets cleaned regularly and cables and housing were new when the conversion was done
