Zipp 808 or nockoff brand(Tokyowheels)??

So I am doing Ironman in April and really want to pimp my ride with some serious deep sections.

At first I had my mind solidly fixed on the Zipp 808's but with a bit more of a look into things, there are quite a few good wheels for a lot cheaper out there. Not that I am not able to afford them, but out of principle it is a lot of money.

Anyone have any opionion on the Tokyowheels ( https://www.tokyowheel.com ).

When comparing them they look very similar, except for the dimples of the zipps.

Anyone had some feedback with these?

OR any other alternatives to consider??

Do you plan on only using them for tri events?

Afaik there is a limit on depth for normal road races although others would know more than me about that.

anything over 25mm needs to be pre-approved

That's interesting, I didn't know that. But TBH I have never seen or heard of anyone checking or being told you cant race because of their wheels. I race vets and majority of the guys have deep sections. Admittedly that list you posted is pretty comprehensive so it covers most of the brands.

i don't think the local commissaire's really have the knowledge wrt the list, most cyclists don't even know the difference especially when it comes to fakes or rebranded chinese wheels.

the strict testing usually happens at championship events
