You guys are forgetting the 12 Apostles at the end of stage 2....just as bad as stage 3. You can get over excited thinking the water point is just ahead, attack those and you will pay for it early on in stage 3.....keep that high cadence under FTP. Yep, the 12 Appostels can break you if you don't respect them, some of them is parmantig, and others langdradig!! The problem is that you only get like 20 - 40 seconds rest before you take on the next one.

Why cant I find info on the route, like individual stage distance and vertical ascent?

I am being doff?

The locals tell me that the website is undergoing a revamp and will be up shortly with full info.

With the site being updated, the best option would probably be to just Google it.

I managed to find this for you: http://mtbapp.co.za/event/nedbank-desert-dash/

Its the info from the 2015 race, but the route would not change

Thanks

I found that too. I have each individual stage distance, but not vertical ascent.

Not serious as I am not riding. Was just wondering.

The site is being updated one piece at a time. The route should not change (much) as there is basically only one route to take.

Stage 1: 32km; 668m ascent

Stage 2: 67km; 711m ascent

Stage 3: 76km; 1123m ascent

Stage 4: 74km; 329m ascent

Stage 5: 74km; 309m ascent

Stage 6: 46km; 438m ascent

Training is going slow. Life, weather and work is interfering all the time. Steadily building the time in the saddle - aiming for 2 or 3 rides of 200km in the next few months and then slowing down in the middle of November.

Aiming for some good TITS over the August long weekend.

I decided to change my training this year...

I've been commuting to work (30k each direction) for the last 2 months. Hoping to also do a long (250k +) ride once a month starting September.
