Having the GC guys duke it out for the prologue win (and therefore the yellow jersey) is great for the fans.

But I'd be interested to hear from the managers & riders in these teams. My guess is that they're not super excited about getting the yellow jersey so early - their poor domestiques have to defend from day 1. They normally like to leave the hard work for later in the race and let other teams defend the jersey in the opening stages.

Not as much of an issue in an 8-stage race like the Dauphine. But could be tough in a grand tour.

I dont know, its a quick one week race, shouldn't be an issue for a strong team, trouble is in my opinion apart from Kreuziger and maybe Paulinho Tinkoff didn't send a terribly strong team to support Berto, but I still dont see them giving it up easily. Attitudes have changed since the day's of LA where he would give the jersey up if he got it too early, today teams hold onto it as long as possible, even in Grand Tours, I cant remember when last I saw any team blatantly lose the jersey.

Yeah, for sure, no team will try to lose the jersey (that's not what I was saying :)). My point was just that they'd prefer not to get it too early - to avoid having to defend it from day 1.

That footage in Round 3 was Bouhanni trying to head butt Kristoff off his own Katusha lead-out team.

I mean FFS...

Disgusting. .

How did the race jury not DQ?

Shoulder rubbing is cool

And the odd verbal intimidation

Head butt > red card

Very strange hey

.. assume no one lodged a complaint?

Renshaw was sent home from the TDF for headbutting

That whole Cofidos team should be sent packing

I remember that fine standard set in head-butting set by Renshaw

Somehow I cannot remember that there was a complaint involved, just plain disciplinary action by race jury...

Julian Dean the unlucky recipient iirc! Also don't recall a complaint being lodged but it did happen in the TdF and it seems the Race Commissioners take their job very seriously so perhaps nothing but footage of the incident was required.

However it's still crazy that Bouhani got away with it. Oh wait he's French ain't he and on a French team. That's probably why. Can't not have the best French sprinter out of the race!
