Hi, I recently upgraded to 1×11. I bought a sram x1 1000 crank with the standard 32t blade on. But I'm spinning out on that blade, I'm looking at buying a 36t but I heard it wears your cassette out much quicker? Has anyone ever used a 36t blade, and if you have what advise can you offer?

What cassette are you running ??

With a 10t 32chainring at 110 cadence and a 29er wheels you should start spinning out at like 54-58kp/h

Maybe go for a 36t oval so its a little more compilent on the super steep stuff

I always say have a lighter climbing gear than a heavier speed gear ;)

Good luck with whatever you choose

Not too clued up with 1x drive trains, but I would like to know how a 36 ring would make a cassette wear out quicker than another size chain ring.

If you're riding 36 up front you're probably vrek strong. You don't get that way without riding lots, so probably doing a vrek lot of mileage. Hence wearing out your cassette faster. Geddit?

I am running a 36t on a 1x10 conversion (11-40). Next time I will go for the 34, I like the 36 but on steep climbs it really kills the legs. Try the oval, that would be next on my list!
