If you are looking for a fast paced, countryside gravel road race where you can train your bunch/slip riding on a mountain bike with a big testing climb at the turning point, then on 20th of August 2016 Van Gaalen's is the place to be.

 

Parking @ Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij.
Starting Point: Remhoogte Gravel Road (short guided ride to start point)
Distances: 105km, 95km, 45km

 

Starting Times:
105km- 07:45 am
95km- 08:00 am
45km- 08:15 am

 

We Start on the Gravel Road with 30km of fast paced Gravel Fun maybe forgetting briefly of the looming challenge ahead, laying dormant the Notorious Breedt's nek Dragon awaits you and that’s where the true climbing battle begins!

 

The difference between the 95km and 105km is simple... The reasonably sane will do the 95km to the top of the mountain and turn to go back... The few less sane will continue on to the bottom and turn at the Spaza shop.The Last 6km of the route will be single track back to Van Gaalen's.

 

We invite all Cycle Cross, single speed, rigid fork, tandems, uni cycles and electric bikes to join us!( electric bikes can't compete for podium)

 

Waterpoints
105km - 4 waterpoints
95km – 3 waterpoints
45km- 1 waterpoint

 

Meals included for all participants!

Entries Close 16 Aug 2016.

If I can get my pink slip signed I'm there with my MonsterCross for the 105  :thumbup:

Not sure if it was a moment of weakness or of madness but I entered the 105km as well. :eek:

Does anybody have a route profile for the 95 km?

 

 

It seems to cut off the end, but it just goes back to the same elevation as the start.

 

Elevation gain 905 according to Garmin.

It's VG to shebeen and back for the long one and top of breedts & back for medium one. Pity it's same weekend as Sun City races.

Just saw this comment on an e-mail from Victor at Van Gaalen:

 

"There’s a “slight hill” on route, Breedt’s Nek, its eroded"

 

Anyone ridden this hill recently who can give us an idea of what to expect?
