My time is worth more than it costs to pay for a service or drop it off. So its cheaper them doing it.

So you can imagine how expensive it gets when you have to use your time to take your bike back multiple times because the LBS keeps getting it wrong?

It's times like that, that DIY is a better investment. Provided you don't have 10 thumbs of course

Its probably personal situation, my LBS is very local, like two roads away, so it takes no time to take it in. Also they don't really get it wrong.

If its a 2 minute job, like pumping my tyres or changing a chain, cassette thats fair, I will smash that.

Dude, do you hunt down BuyCycle's name on the BikeHub to attack them or something? Seems you have unresolved issues or something!

Is he not the guy that they said was an unhappy ex employee? Seems to be carrying a bit of a grudge

I think it is an ex-employee. Saw something he posted on the Zipp wheel thread which was answered by BuyCycle. Mabe he is one of those guys with 2 or 3 Hub Aliases.

Yes, his real name is Martin Horne... Ex employee. Disgruntled for some reason. Has a couple aliases. Still not sure why he is so mad...

I think building/maintaining your own bike is cool...Like making craft beer cool. Learning a skill and more importantly your own bike set up.

And with free shipping becoming a standard to online shopping it can really save some cash.

Thumbs up! All ten of mine of course

Come on out with it, where there's smoke there's fire, spill the beans?
